I’ve had long hair my entire life, and over the years, I’ve picked up a couple tips and tricks to keep long, shiny, flowing locks. I’ve rounded up my top 5 tips on how to maintain long hair, from natural supplements to hair care.
Tip #1 Nature’s Bounty Hair Skin & Nails Gummies
A lot of people ask do those hair gummies really work? The answer is yes. I’ve been taking Nature’s Bounty Hair, Skin & Nails Gummies for a couple years now. I find that my hair is stronger, more shiny and overall more healthy.
The gummies also do wonders for your nails, and now, it feels like my nails are stronger and break less. Nature’s Bounty Hair Skin & Nails Gummies also give you glowing skin. I love that the product gives many benefits in one delicious, strawberry-flavoured gummy!
Your skin and hair are a reflection of what you put in your body, so it’s great that this product helps enhance your natural beauty from within. With Vitamins E & C, as well as Biotin, this is a killer combo for your hair, nails and skin. Biotin is a mainstay for maintaining hair, nails and skin and can be found in many beauty products. You can learn more on how to #EmbraceYourGlow here!
I simply take two gummies a day at breakfast, and follow it with a glass of water and green tea. They taste so good, my boyfriend often steals some from me when he sees me take them. The product is also easy to find at local grocery and drug stores, so practically everywhere!
Tip #2 No Blowdrying
This tip is a little bit tough for Canadians in cold weather, but in order to maintain long hair and keep your hair healthy overall, it is essential to refrain from using a blowdryer. Heat dries out ends and can damage hair. I always wash my hair at night and let it air dry. If you really need to blow dry, I would let your hair air dry 80% and blow dry to smooth everything down.
Tip #3 Ditch the Straightener
The same goes for hot tools. I save my curling iron for the most special occassions and use foam rollers instead, or braid my hair for beach waves. I only straighten my hair if it’s insanely humid out, and usually skip the ends. Always, always use a good heat protectant that’s alcohol free so you don’t dry out your hair.
Tip #4 Hydration
If your hair is dry, ask yourself whether you drink enough water. I use an app called Plant Nanny to remind myself to drink at least 8 glasses of H20 a day. I know you hear this everywhere, but it really does help. Your body needs proper hydration to function, and grow long hair. If you actually look at a strand of hair, you can see it has different thicknesses. The changes can represent periods of stress or malnutrition. Keep things consistent to see a positive change!
Tip #5 No ponytails
Well, maybe not NO pony tails, but avoid this hairstyle as a mainstay. Switch things up and let your hair down from time to time. A tight pony or bun can break hair at the shaft, making your hair more susceptible to split ends.
Bonus Tip: Invest in a microfibre towel
If you want to try air drying but don’t have the time, a quality microfibre towel (even a yoga towel will work) will sop up strands in a snap! These towels are also more gentle than regular terry cloth towels, especially when your hair is most fragile when wet!
I hope these hair care tips gave some insight on how to maintain long hair! While there are some sacrifices, I love the versatility of long locks. You can literally create any hair style, save for a pixie! With some patience and good habits, you can have the mane of your dreams.

awww sometimes it’s good to have a change, you’re brave for doing it! Just be patient and take care of your hair <3
Amazing tips. I use to take biotin ( I am a boy) and it use to help my hair grow a lot. Downside it that you may get little spots though for taking biotin, that happened to me. But I was advised to drink a lot of water when taking it to help get rid of the spots!
