Yesterday in New York City, Salvatore Ferragamo’s Resort 2012 collection walked down the runway. The collection channelled the 1930s with nautical seperates, draped gowns and long blazers. I loved the cohesiveness of this collection and the glamour emanating from these looks.
This was my favourite look from the collection. I loved the fringed texture of the skirt, only made more dramatic with the shimmer. It almost looks like tinsel, but still has an amazing shape and weight.
I loved the simplicity of these gowns. I’m also glad to see that pleated chiffon is still sticking around for another season. A new update is a tassle belt at the waist, instantly conjuring up images of Greta Garbo, Rita Hayworth and Joan Crawford in elegant frocks.
I loved the seperates in this collection. The billowy tuxedo pants, and the long blazer worn as a dress is so fabulous and sexy.
This was one of the looks I wasn’t too keen on. There’s something off-putting about the tacky print and the tinsel cape together that doesn’t work for me.
I also don’t like how unsexy this look is compared to the rest of the collection. It’s too covered up and could have been saved if there was no top under the blazer, which makes me wonder… is this a designer denim jumpsuit?
This was another trainwreck from the collection. Monochromatic silver never works if it’s not an appliance.
Another tinsel jacket… I’m in love! I think the collection was beautiful and elegant, I could easily picture these looks on a private yacht cruising along the Mediterranean.
